Out and About

As Merryhill is only 8 miles from the City Center of Norwich, it is ideally placed for those people who feel the need for retail therapy. Norwich is a super city to walk around, with the Castle and famous Cathedral and many varied and interesting buildings to look at. The market is well worth a visit. There was a time when Norwich had 365 churches and 365 pubs, I just wish I had been around to try some of them. (the pubs that is).

Within 5 minutes of the club there is a large Sainsbury's Supermarket, if your feeling peckish you can choose from Mc Donalds, Pizza Hut or KFC, also so great shops , The Range, Argos & Staples & Next Home Store and Pet world .  There are 2 great pubs one opposite the Showground they serve good food & at a good price, also a Pub  on the Longwater Estate .  Also we have The Swan Pub in Ringland Village set in one of the prettiest spots overlooking the River ,  they serve great food & has a very nice restaraunt called the "Outback"  & they specialise in Australian food ( booking is recommended )

East Dereham is a lovely little Market town only about 20 mins drive, here you will find everything you need without having to go into Norwich City Center.

Also in Dereham near to Tesco & Lidl is Greentrees Caravans they have a well equipped shop for all those last minute things you might need ( or you forget your tent poles !!!!) this has happened.

Just outside the club's entrance there is access to some good walking around the Ringland Hills and Wensum Valley. Also near to the club is a disused railway line that's been transformed into a cycle path, it's approximately 20 miles in length but its not too difficult for the average rider. Golf is also available within 2 miles of the club.

Also within easy reach of the club is access to some of the best countryside we have to offer with some great walks & some beautiful wildlife to photograph,  Alan is a very keen photographer and here are some of the pictures he has taken while out walking.......Check out our Nature Watch Page

The Norfolk Broads are not too far away either you can visit some of the beautiful pubs on the Broads or hire a boat for the day & explore the Norfolk Broads.

The North Norfolk coastal areas are also well worth a visit, particularly between Cromer and Hunstanton. Along this stretch of road are many interesting places worth a look. Sheringham, (The Railway station is a must). Cley next the Sea (Famous for its smoke house kippers and Windmill on BBC ad), Blakeney, Wells next the Sea, Holkham (Naturist beach), and many more. If your interested in history a short journey from Holkham are the villages of Burnham Overy and Burnham Thorpe, the first being home to one of England's finest pub and restaurants The Host Inn well worth a visit. The second being the birth place and home of Admiral Lord Nelson. Again the pub being well worth a visit as it has no bar.

Again if you continue along the coast road past Hunstanton, at Heacham look out for signs Norfolk Lavender. Continuing along towards Kings Lynn at the village of Dersingham look out for signs Sandringham, The Queen's favorite residence, and well worth a visit. The gardens and grounds are excellent.

If you are a member of The National Trust there are some great Halls to visit i.e Blickling Hall, & Felbrigg Hall and many more.

There are many other places to visit in the area, so all you have to do is ask or pick up information from the clubhouse.
